TOP OF $16,000 FOR NOBBS FAMILIES
The Nobbs Families Moura Bull Sale was held yesterday, with 70 of 89 bulls offered selling for an average of $5050, and a clearance of 78 per cent. The sale topped at $16,000 for Chas and Judy Nobbs’ Cordelia Jordan, a Charbray bull. The bull was purchased by George Hoare, Rockview, Braylyn Charbrays. Jordan weighed 924kg at 24 months of age, with an EMA of 143sq cm and a scrotal circumference of 37cm. The second top priced lot of the day was a Red Brahman bull, Garwin 09, offered by Roger and Roslyn Nobbs. Garwin 09 sold for $10,000 to Yandaburra Pastoral Company. The sale saw red and grey Brahmans, Charbrays, and Brangus bulls offered. Buying up big was Stephen Von Pein, who went home with nine bulls averaging $3611. Mr Hoare said Jordan was the bull he came to buy. “He’s just a good bull with a good coat and muscle pattern,” he said. “I’ve had Cordelia bulls before and they’ve done the job for me.” Mr Hoare is selling two bulls in the Charbray national sale next week, who are both from a Cordelia sire he purchased at the Nobbs sale a few years ago. He runs about 50 stud breeders, and 850 commercial breeders. Chas Nobbs said he was very happy with the result of the sale, and did think Jordan would top his bulls.
“I think it went well,” he said. “He (Jordan) was definitely the pick of the boys, he’s one of the better bulls I’ve bred I reckon. “I just like his style, his weight for age, his big eye muscle." Story by Kelly Butterworth QCL September 16th 2017, 5:10pm Photos by Stephanie Nobbs |
