REPEAT BUYERS RETURN TO MOURA

A NUMBER of repeat and volume buyers returned to the Moura Saleyards on Saturday 22 for the 31st annual Nobbs families Moura Bull Sale.
The largest volume buyers on the day were McIntyre Cattle Company, Mt View, Theodore. At a sale that represents value for money, McIntyre selected 11 bulls for a $2727 average. Barranga Grazing, Moura, also put a draft of 10 bulls together for an average of $3000.
Topping the sale was a Charbray offered by Chas and Judy Nobbs and family, Cordelia, Moura. The 23-month-old Cordelia Elvis sire was snapped up for $8000 by George and Cathy Hoare, Braylyn Charbrays, Rockview, Bluff. Mr Hoare said it was the sirey head on Elvis that they liked. “He had plenty of length and depth of body, and overall he was a very soft bull,” Mr Hoare said. With a weight of 890kg, Cordelia Elvis had an EMA of 133 square cm and a scrotal circumference of 37cm to match. Koatanui Pastoral Co, Wandoan, also secured a Cordelia Charbray bull for $7000. Cordelia 17/1 weighed 894kg at 23 months of age, and boasted a massive scrotal circumference of 45cm and a fat scan of 10 and 8mm at the P8 and rib fat sites. The Lyndhurst stud, Biloela, topped their Charbray draft at $4500 for another herd bull. Successful in purchasing the 34-month-old, 892kg Lyndhurst sire was WJ Gray, Kapaldo. Stewart and Stephanie Nobbs and family, Yoman, Moura, topped the Brahman section of the sale at $5500 with the grey Yoman 82/0 bull. The 35-month-old sire sold to Dandarbong Pastoral, Moura. Yoman 82/0 weighed 930kg, had a scrotal measurement of 40cm, and an EMA of 134sq cm. Philip Nobbs, Cordelia P, sold Cordelia P 274/0 to McIntyre Cattle Company for $4500. 274/0 weighed 848kg at 32 months of age, measured 40cm in the scrotal circumference and had an EMA of 129sq cm.
Roger and Roslyn Nobbs and family, Garwin, Bauhinia, sold Garwin 1453 for $4000 to Barranga Grazing, Moura. The 34-month-old grey sire had an EMA of 129cm, a scrotal measurement of 42cm, and a fat scan of 12 and 8mm. The Garwin stud also sold another grey sire in Garwin 1490 to John Howard, Burleigh Estates, Biloela, for $4000. The young 23-month-old Garwin 1490 weighed 678kg, had a scrotal measurement of 30cm and scanned an even 9 and 6mm at the P8 and rib fat sites respectively. The Yoman stud sold the 36-month old Yoman 16/0 sire to the Anderson family from Banana for $4000. Yoman 16/0 weighed 880kg, and had figures including a scrotal circumference of 42cm and an EMA of 126cm. Agents: Elders
